Department of Nursing
History:
School of Nursing (Borujen Branch) started to work in April 1991 by admitting the first groups of students to a nursing bachelor’s program. During its years of activity, the School has managed to lay the background for realizing the talents of its students.
Perspective:
Improving theoretical and clinical education, bridging the gap between theoretical and practical education in the clinical setting, and improving the quality of nursing care based on the professional standards of adult health nursing in the next 10 years.
Vision:
1) Empowering faculty members in new teaching and evaluation methods;
2) Supporting faculty members with educational innovation;
3) Making efforts to attract annual educational expenditure per student;
4) Upgrading recent educational infrastructures to improve the field of study and the educational situation;
5) Codifying a written research evaluation program for the faculty members of the Department;
6) Making efforts to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical education;
7) Using simulation training and upgrading virtual training infrastructure;
8) Holding training workshops to empower lecturers in education;
9) Holding supplemental workshops for students in accordance with the textbook headings with the aim of educational improvement;
10) Holding short-term training courses for faculty members and making efforts to use research opportunities;
11) Revising the curriculum based on the current needs of society;
12) Seeking to strengthen and develop the information system and communication with scientific centers across the world in the form of observation courses to improve the clinical skills of the faculty members;
13) Strengthening motives, self-confidence and self-reliance in students (creating independent performance in accordance with performance standards)
14) Appropriate and accurate teaching of clinical skills to students according to the clinical practice record;
15) Identifying and eliminating the obstacles to acquiring clinical skills;
16) Identifying effective factors for acquiring and strengthening clinical skills (students-staff interaction, facilities and equipment, etc.);
17) Establishing continuous and effective retraining courses for faculty members and staff working in the affiliated healthcare centers;
18) Applying up-to-date knowledge and modern technology in clinical education according to the available facilities;
19) Effective interaction of faculty members and students with the staff of medical centers to solve clinical problems and engage medical personnel in the clinical education of students.
20) Setting up specialized clinics to provide educational healthcare services to the target populations;
21) Continuous engagement of students in holding congresses and conducting research projects related to the field of study; and
22) Making the field of study applied in conducting research and projects, continuing training, etc.,
Research priorities:
1) Empowering cancer patients and their family caregivers;
2) Empowering heart failure patients and their family caregivers;
3) Empowering chronic obstructive pulmonary disease patients and their family caregivers;
4) Improving patient safety;
5) Improving drug safety;
6) The care needs of adults and older people;
7) Localizing clinical practice guidelines for adults and older people (including those hospitalized for common illnesses and discharged);
8) Nursing care in patients with non-communicable diseases;
9) Determining the research priorities of the field with the collaboration of the Department;
10) Appropriate interaction of faculty members and students to promote their research procedures;
11) Providing advice to faculty members and students in the field of research and development of facilities and equipment needed to carry out research projects;
12) Needs assessment of research workshops and making necessary coordination with the University's Research & Technology Vice-Chancellor to hold them;
13) Providing facilities to use journals and academic reference books for faculty members and students;
14) Addressing the ethical aspects of research conducted by the School’s staff, lecturers and/or students;
15) Debriefing the research activities of faculty members such as articles, compilations, translation of books and sending to the Vice-Chancellor to be examined for the promotions and incentives;
16) Supervising and making coordination in holding congresses on the fields related to the School’s scope;
17) Codifying a written research evaluation program for the faculty members of the Department; and
18) Supporting joint research projects that are profitable for the School and comply with the Department's research priorities.
